RACE INFORMATION/COURSE
What are the race distances?
The Half Marathon (1/2) is 13.1 miles. The Quarter Marathon (1/4) is 6.55 miles.
What is the route for each race?
The course maps for both race distances are on the event webpage under the “Course Map” tab.
What time does the race start?
Both races start at 7:45 am EST.
Where is the start line?
The race will start on Main Street in front of Louisville Slugger Field.
Where is the finish line?
The race will finish at home plate of Louisville Slugger Field. The finish line will close at noon.
Where are the water stations located?
We will have 8 water/sports drink stations on the 1/2 marathon course and 3 water stations on the ¼ marathon course. They will be placed no more than 1.8 miles apart, and there will be portable restrooms at every water station.
Will there be gear check for participants?
YES. Gear check will be available in the lobby of Louisville Slugger Field.
Where are restrooms located?
There will be plenty of restrooms at Louisville Slugger Field for pre-race and post-race needs. There will also be porta-pots located on the course (mostly near water stop locations). A detailed map of on-course restroom locations will be available closer to the event.
Can I walk the race?
Both the Half and Quarter Marathon races are walker-friendly. You just need to keep a 16 minute/mile pace. Roads will reopen at this pace, and course services cannot be guaranteed past this time. You may however finish the race using sidewalks and following traffic signs and instructions. The finish line will remain open until noon to allow everyone ample time to finish.
Are headphones permitted?
Headphones (ipods, MP3 players, etc.) are permitted on the course. However, we suggest that you keep the volume down to a level where you can easily hear participants, volunteers and other activity around you. SAFETY FIRST!
Are strollers allowed?
No. Strollers, rollerblades and pets are not permitted on the course.
When will results be posted?
Results will be available immediately following the event. They will be available on our website by 3pm on race day.
How do I get registered?
You can register online on www.active.com, or you can fax/mail in your registration. Forms and details are available on the registration tab of our website www.bighitmarathon.com.
What do I get as a participant?
All participants of the Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon and relay will receive an awesome goodie bag with long sleeve tech shirts and other swag. Every participant will receive on course and post-race food & drink, finisher’s medal and more!
Where do I get my race packet?
You may pick up your race packet at the race expo on Saturday, September 22nd from 10 – 6 pm in the lobby of Louisville Slugger Field. You may also pick up your packet on race morning from 6 – 7 am at Louisville Slugger Field.
May I pick up my friend or family members race packet? No…All participants will be required to show a valid photo at Packet Pickup.
What is the minimum age requirement?
While we suggest participants be at least 13, we will accept younger participants with the expressed consent of their parents. Parents of athletes under 13 must be present at packet pickup.
What is the cancellation/refund policy?
Unfortunately, there are NO refunds or cancellations once you have registered.

Where should I park?
There is plenty of parking around Slugger Field. As we get closer to the event, a more detailed parking map will be available on our website and will be sent to all of our participants.
Where should I stay if I am from out of town?
